Despite the constant affectations generated by inclement weather to agricultural activity, the budget program 0068 of the Regional Agrarian Directorate (DRA), barely reaches an average of 144 thousand soles, with which it tries to cover the needs of the farmers or producers affected by different adverse weather events.

In this regard, the head of the DRA, William Torres Gutiérrez, mentioned that it is necessary that the agricultural insurance budget, which on average reaches 9 million, should be inserted into the aforementioned budget programin order that this benefit provided by the State reaches the producers affected by the climate directly.

He also assured that the region is a fairly vulnerable area. For this reason, every year 10,000 to 15,000 hectares of crops are lost as a result of frost and hailstorms.
