BTS takes a break and its members will continue as soloists

After more than a decade together and carrying several triumphs on their backs, the Korean pop band BTS announced their temporary separation.

The group made up of Kim Taehyung, Min Yoon-gi, Jung Hoseok, Jeon Junk-kook, Kim Seok-jin, Kim Nam-joon and Park Ji-min, broke the news during the annual dinner celebrating the stage debut of the band. Its members left the door open for a future return.

The beginning of his fame
It was in 2013 when composer Bang Si-hyuk, founder of the Big-Hit Entertainment studio, unveiled the group he had worked with since 2010.

Unlike the idol band, the producer made sure that BTS is full of figures that fans can identify with.

Since its inception, BTS’s music has been geared towards hip hop as some members had backgrounds in rap projects. Over the years they have ventured into various rhythms, such as rock and gospel, without neglecting the rhymes that characterize them.

An important element in the band, more than the melodies, are the lyrics, because they address issues that distinguished the project from the beginning: mental health, social acceptance, school and labor problems, among other problems with which the new generations feel identified.

They also stood out with projects, such as Map of the Soul: Persona (2019), in which for the development of the concept the group took as inspiration the theories about the human psyche developed by Carl Jung, specifically about the person archetype.

way to the top
BTS has released various singles, albums, EP’s and compilations in both South Korea and Japan, the same ones with which they have taken over the popularity charts numerous times, entering the Billboard 200 more than once and selling million copies in the US.

Love Yourself: Tear became number 1 on the Billboards, earning BTS the first Korean pop band to do so. The Love Yourself: Answer album also reached number one on the Billboard 200.

The band’s first English-language song, Dynamite, surpassed its 32nd week on Billboard’s Hot 100 all-genre chart.
BTS also achieved the record for the most streamed act on Spotify in 2021, previously achieved by the British band Coldplay.

Another achievement for BTS came after their seventh studio album, Map of the Soul:7, with which they managed to sell about 4,440,818 copies in Korea.
