Brutal student detention in Plaza de Armas: Children’s Ombudsman announces the evaluation of institutional actions against Carabineros

During this day, students from different establishments in Santiago gathered in the surroundings of the Plaza de Armas to reach the Municipality to show their dissatisfaction with the communal authorities for the lack of improvements in the respective campuses. Faced with the incidents, Police Public Order Control personnel acted on the spot to control the situation.

Through an audiovisual record, it can be seen how some uniformed officers violently detain a student from the National Institute, throwing themselves against the minor to later immobilize him on the ground while he asked for help. Given these facts, the Ombudsman for Children indicated that they officiate at the institution so that it could give explanations of this way of acting, according to The bewilderment.

“Regarding the violent arrests of high school students that occurred today in Santiago, We will notify the Carabineros to obtain information from the officials involved and we will evaluate institutional actions based on the protection of the rights of affected adolescents,” the agency said on Twitter.
