On October 22, the Sudestada news portal published an investigation in which it stated that the Argentine doctor Bruno Szyferman visited Uruguay during the COVID-19 pandemic when the borders were closed to foreigners, entering through an executive decree that enabled their entry exceptionally.
The presidential decree, signed on June 21, 2021, ensures that there were “reasons of urgent and urgent need”, which are not specified in the document.
On June 27, the doctor reported that he was already in Montevideo, posting a photo on his Instagram account in which he tagged Dr. Gabriela Novello, which he himself placed at the center of the discussion.
According to a public release released last weekend, the doctor – registered to practice medicine in Argentina – denied that he was the one who performed the operation, but that it was Dr. Novello.
“It should be noted that I do not provide medical care outside my country, beyond providing medical advice,” he stressed, since his registration is limited only to Argentina.

He concluded by “regretting” that journalists and the media cited his name “to engage in politics with an issue that is totally foreign” to his person.
But in the June 27, 2021 photo from his own Instagram account, @brunoszyferman, he posted: “Capilea Uruguay The best hair transplant team that Uruguay has, by far the best.
A privilege and a pleasure to share the operating room with them”.
In the post you can see him with Novello and three other women who would work in the clinic in question.
Does not explain the urgent reasons for admission
In an interview granted to Montevideo Portal, the doctor was asked about the “Reasons of urgent need and of an urgent nature” that motivated him to travel to Uruguay and that got him the go-ahead from the Presidency of the Republic.
“I am a doctor; I don’t play politics and I have nothing to do with politics, and it bothers me a lot that they want to play politics with me. If they want to do it with the president, who is a political person, great, but not with me. I repeat: I am not going to give details of my company, the clinic, or the patients I see. We have companies in different countries, to which I travel to assist them”, he replied without clarifying the reasons why he obtained the exceptional permit.
