Candidate Bruno Reis (União) won the race for mayor of Salvador, with 78.68% of the valid votes, and won re-election with a wide margin of votes. Kleber Rosa (PSOL) came in second place, with 10.42% of valid votes and Geraldo Júnior (MDB) was close behind, with 10.33% of valid votes. So far, 99.96% of the ballots have been counted.
Bruno Soares, when confirming his commitment to remain in the city hall of Salvador, stated that his intention was to guarantee the achievements of his mandate, as well as to continue with new projects and programs while maintaining healthy municipal finances. The area of urban mobility, according to him, will receive special attention during this second term.
In his first victory for mayor, Bruno Soares ran for the extinct DEM. With a degree in Law from the Catholic University of Salvador (UCSAL), a postgraduate degree in finance management from Fundação Getúlio Vargas, he has a master’s degree in development and social management from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA).
Born in Petrolina, in Pernambuco, he went to Salvador when he was still young, at the age of five. Bruno Soares was born in 1977. In 2016, he was elected vice-mayor on the ACM Neto ticket. He previously held a seat in the state’s legislative assembly.
