Interviewed during the visit to a hospital in which 17 elements of the Secretary of Citizen Security that were assaulted during the demonstration are recovered, the capital’s president said that the more than 2,000 uniforms deployed in the historic center, resisted aggressions by a group that caused damage to shops and urban furniture. Its members, he said, are already being identified.
He said that the 68th committee, an organization that leads the demonstration of October 2 every year, has already demarcated the black block, as well as the damages and looting caused by the hooded.
“We respect, as a city government, we were respecting, resisting, but where there were crimes there will have to be consequences,” he said.
He added: “We are going to review what is behind this. Because what a group of people did have nothing to do with October 2, nor does it have to do with other causes. So, that is what is coming.”
On the health status of the injured police, Pablo Vázquez Camacho, secretary of Citizen Security, explained that 17 remain under medical observation. Two of them are delicate by blows and burns in different parts of the body, caused by the explosion of Molotov pumps that the protesters threw.
“Everyone evolving satisfactorily and we hope, probably, today and tomorrow from some and in the following week of others,” he said.
Given the call that circulates in social networks by some police officers and their relatives against SSC commanders for not protecting the integrity of the uniformed during the aggressions of protesters on October 2, the head of government said that the elements will have all the support and the dialogue is maintained.
