When presenting the results of the commemorative macrosimulation for the 40 years of the 1985 earthquake and the eight of the occurred in 2017, the head of government recalled that the reconstruction plan designed by previous administrations was designed to turn the victims into debtors.
He pointed out that, given that situation, the then head of government and today president, Claudia Sheinbaumordered to redesign the program, which allowed to recover and deliver more than 22,000 homes to affected families. He added that his administration is responsible for concluding the 1,874 homes that still remain under construction or at some development stage.
“I am committed to the victims of 2017 to conclude. My signed commitment that we are going to conclude all the reconstruction works that are missing in the city,” he said.
Brugada added that he will hold meetings with organizations and groups of victims to make progress in the reconstruction of homes, support and establish delivery times.
They will reinforce buildings on CDMX
The head of government also said that on Monday, September 22, a real estate reinforcement program will be publicly announced that are susceptible to earthquakes and that they could represent risks to the inhabitants of Mexico City.
Brugada said that this program will be aimed at real estate with more than 40 years old, some of which suffered damage to the earthquakes of 1985 and 2017, but continue to operate today. Others remain abandoned, so an analysis of the properties will be made to reinforce them or in their case demolish them.
“This program will also allow us to strengthen the preventive approach to the reagent, by identifying real estate at risk, in which we will be making different investments and strategic interventions,” he said.
