The facilities are located at Avenida Niños Héroes 64, in the Doctores neighborhood of the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office, in the former headquarters of the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).
For the first time in this center, the different authorities in charge of responding to the search for missing and unlocated people will work in the same space.
The Person Search Commission with 100 members will provide care at the facilities; the Specialized Immediate Search Support Group, with 50 members from the SSC and the FGJ CDMX; staff of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Investigation of Crimes of Disappearance of Persons and Disappearance Committed by Individuals, with 80 members, as well as the Coordination Unit.
“The main objective of this center is to find an institutional response in the same space to make our search actions more efficient; facilitate institutional access for families who wish to report the non-location of a loved one, and improve coordination between the various institutions, acting as a single specialized immediate search team,” said Bertha Alcalde Luján, head of the capital’s Prosecutor’s Office.
Brugada pointed out that in the first year of his administration, actions have been taken to respond to the demands of searching families as well as groups: the installation of the Office for Searching for Missing Persons; the beginning of the construction of the Temporary Shelter Center, for the identification of human remains, which will have 5,000 drawers and 4,000 ossuaries.
He also explained that the budget of the Search Commission was doubled and the capacity for action in the field has tripled with the incorporation of hundreds of specialized elements; Through the DNA Bank, more than 500 genetic profiles have been generated; identification of 456 deceased people who had not been recognized and delivery of 196 bodies of unclaimed people to their families.
