When presenting the monthly report on criminal incidence in the capital, the president stressed that, between January and July 2024 – period corresponding to its predecessor, Martí Batres – 61.36 high -impact crimes were recorded per day. However, he said that in the same seven months of 2025, already in his administration, the figure fell to 54.77 daily crimes, which represents a decrease of 11%.
Brugada said that the figure acquires greater relevance when compared to the 141 daily crimes registered in 2019, which represents a 61% reduction in high -impact crimes.
“We can analyze any crime and we will have a margin of the sub -registration – what is called a black figure – but in the case of homicides it is not so, it is the indicator that expresses the level of violence we have in society,” he said.

Ángel Tamariz, head of the Digital Agency for Public Innovation (ADIP), explained that, in the case of intention, from January to July 2019, 936 deaths were recorded with a firearm impact, while in the same period of 2024 there were 516 cases and 462 in 2025.
These 2025 figures represent a 51% decrease in homicides in seven months of 2019 and 10% in the same period of 2024.
On vehicle theft, he commented that from January to July 2024, 3,715 cases were registered and in the same period of 2025 there were 3,431, which means an 8%decrease. Other crimes with a downward tendency were the robbery of successful account with violence, with 45% less compared to 2024; Kidnapping with -38% and microbus passenger robbery with and without violence with -39%.
“In all high -impact crimes we can see a clear tendency towards decline, this data shows an effectiveness in the security strategy,” he said.
