In the morning conference this Friday, the president asked the Ministry of Culture to reach an agreement with the businessman to explore the possibility of Banamex’s cultural heritage being exposed to citizens.
Regarding the proposal to acquire part of Citi by Grupo México, the president limited herself to reiterating that it was rejected, which is why so far only businessman Chico Pardo has managed to complete part of the purchase.
Meeting with creditors of Salinas Pliego confirmed
On another issue, President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that there will be a meeting with creditors of businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego to address the issue of paying his taxes, however, she said, there is still no date for the meeting.
“There is still no date, but there will be a meeting as I had already mentioned,” he indicated.
Sheinbaum explained that, if the businessman decides to pay, he can have discounts on the fines “within the legal framework,” although he clarified that neither Salinas nor his creditors have let the government know that they intend to do so.
“There has not been anything from the businessman or his legal representatives to say: ‘yes, I am going to pay,'” he said.
Last week, the president reported that she received a letter from people to whom businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego owes to meet with her, a meeting she agreed to hold.
“I saw there on the networks that they said: ‘Why is the President going to receive these people who are asking for a meeting?’ Well, because it has to do with an arbitration where the Mexican State is involved related to the Commercial Agreement. So, that is why it is important to receive them, with the Ministry of Economy, since they are requesting an appointment,” he said on October 2.
