Officials from the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc), assigned to the Municipal Delegation of Acarigua, Portuguesa state, managed to arrest two brothers, who were dedicated to defrauding unsuspecting people with the sale of dollars through the WhatsApp application.
The information was released by the director of the police agency, Douglas Rico, through a publication on his account on the social network Instagram.
According to the senior official’s report, the young brothers, who were identified as Danny Anacaris, 19 years old, and Dilan Eduardo Utriola Rodríguez, 18 years old, offered the foreign currency through the aforementioned mobile application.
“After their victims made the payment in bolivars through bank transfers, they requested the money from the brothers, who evaded their responsibilities by claiming to have been hacked,” the police official explained.
However, after arduous field work and investigations by the detective team, it was determined that their accounts were never hacked and they managed to defraud several of their contacts, which affected their financial assets.
It should be noted that during the procedure, carried out on Avenue 34, Acarigua parish, Páez municipality, Portuguesa state, a Samsung Galaxy A11 cell phone was collected as evidence.
After the arrest, the case was placed at the disposal of the Ninth Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry.
