American actress Brooke Shields, known for her roles in films such as “The Blue Lagoon” and “Endless Love”, revealed this Friday that she was raped when she was starting out in Hollywood.
His statements are included in the documentary “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields”, premiered at the Sundance film festival. In the film, Shields, who is also a model, explained in detail how she was abused by her assailant, whom she did not identify.
The actress indicated that she met her attacker after graduating from university. She agreed to meet him because she thought it was a work meeting. After the encounter, the man took her to her hotel where he took her to her room under the pretext of asking for a taxi, but he went to the bathroom and came out naked to rape her, the actress said.
“It was like a wrestling match. I was afraid that I would drown or something,” she expressed. “I didn’t fight that much. I did not do it. I was totally paralyzed. I thought my only ‘no’ should have been enough. And I just thought ‘stay alive and go,’” she explained.
Shields revealed that after the incident he telephoned his friend and head of security, Gavin de Becker, who told him that this was rape. “I’m not willing to believe that,” replied the actress.
Shields’ confession is one of the climatic points of the documentary that will be released in two parts. The first deals with the sexualization that the actress suffered as a child and her representation of a child prostitute, “Pretty Baby”, at the age of 11. The film will be shown on the Hulu platform.
