Through a statement, the Executive Secretariat of the left-wing coalition expressed its “absolute support” for Pereira, who was denounced for defamation and insultstogether with Alberto Grille –director of the Caras y Caretas publication– and three users of social networks.
“The Broad Front not only shares, but also makes each of the words, expressions and assessments made publicly by the President of our political force his own and that led the prosecutor Fossati to present an unfounded complaint”, said that political party in the document.
Like Pereira, for the FA “it is worrying” that Fossati “has focused” on this fact instead of the Astesiano case. In turn, he stated that “can generate a censorship effect about those who think differently from what was done by the Prosecutor’s Office.”
Finally, he insisted that it is “essential” that, in the Astesiano case, “the investigations go in-depth in order to clarify the apparently criminal facts of public knowledge that have not yet been investigated and require professional and guaranteed work by the Prosecutor’s Office in charge”.
Lacalle Pou responded to Pereira
For his part, Luis Lacalle Pou responded to Pereira, who said he was offended by statements made recently by the president. “When the president was asked about the Astesiano case and my opinions, he said ‘they pay him for something,'” Pereira had detailed.
Thus, the president commented:We’re all over sensitive meansI have no problems with anyone, maybe some others do,” according to Telemundo. “There are already enough problems in Uruguay to give us a handle on this,” he added at a press conference.
