As part of the launch of the season, the Mayor of Maldonado Enrique Antía announced the reopening of La Barra bridge two: “At the moment that I am talking about, the La Barra bridge is being opened for vehicular traffic,” announced the community chief.
From the Fernandina mayor it was reported that “in the last hours resistance tests were carried out and signs were painted, while a speed and weight control was placed.”
The maximum speed of movement on this bridge is 30 kilometers per hour, and it will not be enabled for heavy traffic.
According to the Maldonado mayor’s office, after 40 days of work against the clock, the bridge was raised 86 centimeters after it had dropped 1.15 meters.
The mayor shared a barbecue with the workers and managers of the company in charge to recognize their efforts.
It is expected that after the end of the summer tourist season, work will resume on the bridge to implement definitive solutions. On the other hand, Mayor Antía has repeatedly indicated his willingness to study the possibility of building a third bridge in a location to be determined.
