The so-called: ‘Bridge of the Ecotourism Commonwealth’ that connects the districts of Machu Picchu (Urubamba) with the districts of Huayopata (La Convention), was recently inaugurated and will allow a greater flow of locals and tourists towards the world wonder.
The aforementioned bridge was erected under a tripartite action, between the Municipality of Machu Picchu, Huayopata and the Regional Government of Cusco, and has a length of 55.70 light meters, with a vehicle load capacity of 60 tons, and will allow the flow of people and products through the tourist route known as the Amazonian access.
The mayor of Machu Picchu, Darwin Baca, mentioned that this will be a fundamental and alternate route for the access of locals and tourists to the wonder of the world Machu Picchuimproving walkability and travel opportunities for all.
“I recognize the effort of the authorities, professional and technical personnel that was part of the constructionI appreciate the presence of the regional governor. Jean Paul Benavente, congressman Guido Bellido and the mayors of Santa Teresa, Vilcabamba, Maranura and Huayopata”, he pointed.
The bridge will benefit the communities of: San Pablo, Caballerayoc, Moyomonte, Pasto Grande, Islayunca, Pumachaca, Idmapampa, Idmacucho, Huillcar, Collpani and Hydroelectric, that will join them with the districts of Huayopata and Machu Picchu.
FACT:
– The new bridge lies over the Huillcar basin, and is constituted as an alternative entrance to and from Machu Picchu, since currently the only route that directly connects this destination is the railway.
