The United States Assistant Secretary of State for the Office of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Brian Nichols, revealed to the voice of america (VOA) that the US government will impose more sanctions against the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo; and that these actions could be very soon.
A journalist from the media outlet asked the US official if he expects to see more sanctions against the Nicaraguan regime, to which the official replied: yes.

He also asked if those actions would be very soon and Nichols said that “it may be.”
Brian Nichols also reacted to the statements by Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada, who called the United States government a “liar” for denouncing the human rights violations perpetrated by the Ortega-Murillo administration against the Nicaraguan people.
“The UN (United Nations Organization), the Human Rights Council, the OAS (Organization of American States), the Inter-American Court (of human rights), all have denounced the actions of the Ortega-Murillo regime,” said the Undersecretary of State, thereby sending a message that the denunciation of human rights violations is widespread.
He also recalled that on the night of Wednesday, September 21 “the Ortega Murillo regime stopped the cable television service of Cnn in Spanish because they are reporting the events that happen in this country.
“That is another action of an anti-democratic regime, which does not respect the fundamental rights of people, neither of expression, nor of the media, nor freedom of worship. What we want to see is a change in policies, the release of political prisoners, respect for the fundamental rights of people in Nicaragua,” said Brian Nichols.
Recently, the US official alleged that the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship seeks to exercise absolute control over the Nicaraguan people, from whom it has taken all their fundamental rights.
