Santiago. Monsignor Freddy Bretón Martínez urged to defend life and exalt the family institution, since the root of violence is within the homes that are formed without remembering God.
He said that a blessed home could leave “a son who shoots for the mountain” but a family blessed by God cannot leave a criminal than society, so he encouraged conscious citizens, officials and the church to work thoroughly to preserve the family institution, the enormous gift that God has given it.
He also expressed to those who battle and fight to the detriment of the family, that there are many people who value the treasure that God has given them.
“We want to give that signal so that there is no doubt that we value God’s treasure and that we are willing to defend the life of the human being, those of us who are walking and those who are still in the womb, that the population, the country feel We will never get tired of repeating that we are willing to defend the innocent, how is the creature that is in the womb,” said the Metropolitan Archbishop of Santiago, during the homily, after the walk “A step for my family,” which left from the Cibao Stadium to the Central Park.
Referring to the issue of abortion, he said that Jesus was a candidate abort since “Joseph did not know whose boy that boy was, he could resort to one of the causes to abort that innocent creature and we would have been left without a redeemer” and Christ would not have come into the world.
He also referred to the issue of corruption and violence that the country is currently experiencing, recalling that when he arrived in Santiago seven years ago at the inauguration, he said that he wanted Christ to reign in the hearts of all people, but he questioned how he is going to reign, corruption reigns and violence increases, issues that are more latent today than ever.
“On the issue of corruption that is mostly dealt with in the courts and the issue of violence I fell very short, now when we mention violence it hurts everyone,” he said, while talking about the role of the school in training, since and if values that exalt the human condition are not planted, those values that make a country great, what can be expected.
He also questioned the role of the media when women are seen dancing in panties on the screens, since that is what children will learn at home, for which reason he called on the authorities to address the damage that this causes to the country.
“Sometimes they give us a chance to be an authority and perhaps we forget about the people who used to share with us, that has been seen in the country, I am not saying that it happens now but before there was talk about flip-flops that changed them by Jeepeta and then they didn’t know anyone,” said Breton Martínez, to later remind public servants to be humble and servants of their people.
The walk and subsequent Eucharist was organized by the Archdiocese of Santiago of the Knights and the Family Pastoral Vicariate. Finally, the spouses Juan and Idalia Cruz, coordinators of the Archdiocesan Commission for Family Ministry, read the family’s manifesto.
