Awareness day will be today, this activity will take place in Plaza Constitución
The Departmental Health Directorate together with the department’s health providers and the 2 Nursing Schools –CEAS and Avanza- are organizing this activity that will take place in Plaza Constitución.
From the 9th hour until around noon, workshops will be held and awareness-raising talks about breast cancer will be offered in what will be the last activity in the so-called pink month.
This Monday at the Headquarters of the Departmental Health Directorate, details of the activity were given.
“Together with other institutions we are organizing an event to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention today” held the Licensed Liliana Denis.
Annually the month of October, designated as pink month, is dedicated to working on this pathology that has a high incidence among Uruguayan women. “It can be prevented, that is the most important thing and that is what we have to aim for” said the Departmental Director of Health of Cerro Largo.
“40% of breast cancer in Uruguay can be prevented through healthy habits, through the controls that women must carry out, through physical exercise, diet and doing breast self-examination” he remarked.
This information, sensitization and awareness activity will take place this morning from hour 9 in Plaza Constitución. “There will be some stands and two educational events, workshop type, intended for the general public” Liliana Denis advanced.
PARTICIPATION IS EXPECTED FROM EVERYONE
The Graduate in Nutrition Liliana Rivero He extended the invitation to everyone to be part of the closing activity of the pink month. “All the health providers will be there, but there will also be the nursing schools that are always present in all the activities.” stood out.
“The first educational instance will be in charge of the RAP and will work on prevention; the second will be under the supervision of CEAS and will work on what happens after the diagnosis of breast cancer, the steps to follow and so on; and, finally, the closing activity will be in charge of the Avanza school” he detailed.
“It will be an educational and informative day for which we are waiting for everyone” Rivero insisted.

“There is a lot of talk and it is very important to work on prevention, healthy habits and so on, however, at CEAS we are committed to this opportunity to work on what happens next, to provide the resources we have for women who experience this disease.” express Marcela Ferreño.

“The training of the entire population is important, it is something that can be done without any problems and what we try to do is raise awareness of the importance of women knowing themselves and that as soon as they find any alteration in their body they can consult early because there the recovery rates are much higher” stated the Director of the Avanza School.
