Many already arrived strange messages asking for personal data.
News Colombia.
Bre -B is the new immediate payment system implemented by the Bank of the Republic in Colombia. Its objective is to allow citizens to make transfers between different financial entities instantly, every day any time.
The system works by “keys” associated with the bank accounts of the users, such as the cell phone number, the card or an email, which can be recorded from the applications of the banks or digital wallets.
The registration process began on July 14, 2025, and the full operation of the system – that is, the possibility of sending and receiving money through keys – will be available from September 22, 2025.
As announced by the Bank of the Republic, the use of BRE -B will be free for users during the first four years.
However, as of September 2029, financial entities must assume an approximate cost of $ 6.46 COP for each transaction, which could transfer customers according to their internal policies.
Users alert about possible scams with bre -b
Although it is still in an initial phase, the system has already generated concern among some citizens. In social networks, several users have reported having received text messages, emails and even calls in which they are asked to register their keys in alleged official pages.
In many cases, these links redirect fraudulent sites that try to capture personal or banking data. Others have warned about messages that offer alleged benefits for linking the system in advance, which could also be deception.
These situations have led to warnings by cybersecurity experts, who remember that no entity is authorized to request sensitive information outside their official channels.
The Bank of the Republic has also clarified that Bre -B does not have an independent applicationso any request to download an external app related to the system should be considered suspicious.
The only valid channel to register and operate with BRE -B is the application of the bank or wallet where the user has their account.
Given this situation, citizens are recommended to refrain from following links sent by strangers, not share keys or verification codes by messages or calls, and immediately report any fraud attempt to their financial entity.
Although Bre -B seeks to modernize digital payments in the country, its introduction also implies new risks that require attention and education by institutions and users.
In addition, each entity will establish its own limits of use. In the case of Nequi and Daviplata, for example, it is estimated that transfers through BRE -B will have a daily limit of $ 4 million. Other banks such as Bancolombia, Banco de Bogotá and NU are still defining the maximum amounts, which could vary according to the type of customer account or profile.
