The Federal Police began this Monday (26) a new round of testimony at the Federal Supreme Court (STF) as part of the investigation investigating the purchase of Banco Master assets by Banco de Brasília (BRB). The hearings take place as determined by Minister Dias Toffoli, rapporteur of the case.
The first to give testimony this Monday was Dario Oswaldo Garcia Júnior, director of Finance and Controllership at BRB. He answered the investigators’ questions, but the content of the statement was not disclosed due to procedural secrecy.
Next, testimonies from businesspeople linked to the Banco Master conglomerate and executives from the institution were scheduled. Among them, Alberto Felix de Oliveira, executive superintendent of Master’s Treasury, who chose to remain silent, exercising his constitutional right not to produce evidence against himself.
The testimony schedule continues this Tuesday (27), with the hearing of four more people being investigated, including directors of BRB and Banco Master, as well as partners of the financial institution, some of them via videoconference.
The investigation investigates suspected irregularities in the negotiation of credit portfolios involving BRB and Banco Master, with possible crimes such as fraudulent management of a financial institution, use of privileged information, market manipulation and money laundering.
The case is being processed by the STF due to the existence of an investigator with jurisdiction prerogative, who would be a federal deputy. The suspicions of the parliamentarian’s involvement, however, have not yet been confirmed.
