Brazil's international air network reaches the highest volume since 2019

The number of international flight arrivals to Brazil in August this year was the highest ever recorded since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic. According to the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur), only last month there were 4,003 arrivals, which represents 80.71% of the capacity demonstrated in 2019. Until July 2022, the international air network maintained an upward trend, above 70% of 2019 capacity, but had not yet surpassed 80%. Embratur expects to recover 100% of connectivity by 2022. To this end, the agency has held meetings with airlines and there is a forecast of 134 new flights and additional frequencies by February 2023.

Among the novelties, the routes and frequencies connecting the Northeast of Brazil stand out. In October, Aerolíneas Argentinas plans to increase two frequencies on Buenos Aires-Salvador flights. In November, Tap also estimates the return of two Lisbon-Salvador flight frequencies. In the same month, Gol will resume the Buenos Aires-Natal flight.

Air Europa plans to start operating two new flights and an additional frequency in December on the Madrid-Salvador route. Also in December, Gol estimates new flights: Miami-Fortaleza, Buenos Aires-Recife, Buenos Aires-Maceió and Buenos Aires-Salvador.

Currently, the continents that have the most connectivity to Brazil are Latin America, with 2,068 monthly flights; Europe, with 1,045 flights; and North America, with 762. According to Embratur, connectivity with the United States and Canada, in August, increased 28.36% in relation to the month of July.
