With just over a week to go before the second round of the 2022 elections, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Anderson Torres, says that Brazilians will have peace of mind to go to the polls.
According to the minister, the police are prepared and an integrated action, centralized in Brasília, will control operations at the Integrated Command and Control Center, in Brasília, with more than ten institutions monitoring the occurrences. ”Everyone will have access to the polls, access to polling places. We saw what the problems were in the first round, we are working so that these problems do not recur in the second round”, said Torres, in an interview with the program. The Voice of Brazil this Wednesday (19).
The minister recommended that voters freely exercise their right to vote, as Federal Police and Federal Highway Police operations will face electoral crimes. “Exams, vote buying, illegal transport of voters, all this is being seen by the Federal Police and the Federal Highway Police to avoid any kind of fraud or violation of the person’s right to exercise their right to vote,” he said.
Integration
The minister highlighted the integrated action of the Civil and Military Police across the country, which has brought better results in the fight against crime. An example of this is the National Network of Judicial Police in the Fight Against Corruption. ”This brings the Civil Police together with the Federal Police, an information network, stimulates the exchange of information, the exchange of experiences, helps in anti-corruption investigations, we brought everyone involved in the investigations into the problem.”
Anderson Torres also cited the work of the National Secretariat for Drug Policies, which, since 2019, has raised BRL 320 million in 650 auctions of goods from drug trafficking. “People say that the capitalist way of fighting organized crime is to use crime money against crime itself. This secretariat manages this, receives the resources, auctions the seized goods”. According to the minister, the entire resource was applied to combating crime, investing in vehicles and training. “This money from crime goes against crime”, says the minister.
Corruption
According to the minister, corruption is one of the main strategic axes of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. “Since the beginning of this government, we have already seized 11 billion in these works to repress corruption and financial crimes. More than 2,500 anti-corruption operations were carried out in Brazil [desde 2019].
