Around two thousand student-athletes from all over the country are already in Rio de Janeiro for the Brazilian University Games – Beach (JUBs). For the first time in the city, the event will open with a party tonight, starting at 7 pm (Brasília time), at Praia de Botafogo, kicking off eight days of competitions in 12 sports. The JUBs are open to the public and will also be broadcast live on the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU) channel.
The main structure of the event is set up at Praia de Botafogo, where beach volleyball matches will take place from Tuesday (20), beach soccerfootvolley, beach tennis, beach hand (hand heldball), cross trainingmixed volleyball 4×4 and beach wrestling. Games will always be from 9am to 4pm.

The 3×3 skateboarding and basketball tournaments will be held at Praça do Ó, in Barra da Tijuca, starting on Wednesday (21) and will run until Saturday (24), from 9 am to 5 pm.
The JUBs – Praia will also have a surfing championship on Thursday (22), starting at 7 am, near Barra post three. The following day, Copacabana Beach will host the open water swimming events. The women’s event will be at 8 am and the men’s at 10 am – the starts will be at post five.
