The ten Brazilian students who represented the country at the Latin American Astronomy and Astronautics Olympics (Olaa) received medals in the competition, nine of them gold and one silver. The competition took place between September 1st and 7th in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Barra do Piraí (RJ).
With the participation of 14 countries, Olaa had 74 students, 26 leaders and co-leaders, as well as 15 observers. During the Olympics, the students made several challenges that tested the knowledge in astronomy and astronautics.
The activities involved proof on planetarium, observational test using a scope and telescope, theoretical exams, as well as construction and launch of pet bottle rockets. The delegations also made an excursion to Itajubá (MG), where they met the facilities of the National Astrophysics Laboratory (LNA).
The gold medalists were:
- Felipe Maia Silva, from Fortaleza (CE);
- Filipe Ya Hu Dai Lima, from Fortaleza (CE);
- Lucas Praça Oliveira, from Fortaleza (CE);
- Isabela Xavier de Miranda, from Rio de Janeiro (RJ);
- Luís Fernando de Oliveira Souza, from Cassilândia (MS);

The students were selected among the 50 best participants of the Brazilian Astronomy and Astronautics Olympics (OBA) 2024.
The medals were obtained from group awards, when national teams gained better theoretical and rocket tests, and in individual awards, reaching the result of better observational proof and better theoretical proof.
