The Federal Public Ministry of Brazil determined the suspension of the legal cooperation agreement with Peru in relation to the case Odebrecht after a request from the company, according to a document to which EFE had access this Tuesday.
The decision was made in response to a lawsuit by Novonor, formerly Odebrecht, which denounced the violation by the Peruvian authorities of the agreement signed between both parties, which includes the “non-use of tests produced in Brazil” against the company in that jurisdiction. Peru21 anticipated in its today’s edition that this agreement was at risk.
It should be remembered that this Monday, October 31, the ad hoc prosecutor for the Lava Jato case, Silvana Carrión, had warned that cooperation with the Brazilian authorities around the Lava Jato case had slowed down in recent months after the deactivation of the unit of research in the neighboring country since February 2021.

In dialogue with RPP Noticias, he indicated that there is no longer speed in the scheduling of proceedings, which he considered a “obstacle” that does not depend on the Peruvian authorities.
“Lava Jato is a case of international significance and cooperation with Brazil has been essential to advance this process. However, this cooperation has been a little slower as a result of the pandemic, but then, after the deactivation of the Lava Jato team in Brazil, finally there is not this fluidity or speed in the signaling of procedures that must exist to receive the information. from Brazil”he expressed.
In this sense, he explained that there are 70 ‘codinomes’ pending to be decoded and that the problems with the international cooperation with the Brazilian authorities have not allowed the information to finish being received.
