The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) reported today (1) that the remaining group of football players and their family members who left Ukraine because of Russian military action returned to Brazil this Sunday. According to Itamaraty, the group, which was in Bucharest, capital of Romania, returns on a commercial flight.
Brazilian players from Ukrainian clubs Shakhtar Donestky and Dinamo have already landed in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, in the morning, after leaving Kiev, capital of Ukraine, on Saturday (26), heading to Romania. There, they were received by representatives of the Brazilian Embassy.
“The Embassy of Brazil in #Romania provided support to 40 Brazilians, soccer players and family members, who left Ukraine across the border with Romania. They are players from several Ukrainian football teams”, informed the Itamaraty through a social network.
The Itamaraty also informed that the transport to Bucharest was paid for by the Union of European Football Federations (Uefa). According to the ministry, one of the Brazilians who accompanied the group intends to return to Ukraine, “if the conflict ends soon” and decided to remain in Romania for the next few days.

The Russian offensive in Ukraine has already reached the country’s capital. Because of this, the Embassy of Brazil released a statement to Brazilians who are still there, recommending that they leave Kiev “with urgency”, towards the borders with Poland, Romania or the northern border of Moldova.
The embassy has published in the Telegram group information about timetables for trains leaving Kiev. Anyone intending to leave the capital must go to the capital’s central station before the 20:00 curfew begins.
For Brazilians who are in the cities of Kharkiv and Kherson, the recommendation is to stay where they are, seek safe shelter and keep the Brazilian authorities informed.
The embassy also told those planning to leave the country by car that the roads leading to Poland are “relatively safe”.
“For Brazilians who are in other parts of the country, it is recommended to assess personal security conditions and, if possible, try to board a train to the nearest border, informing the embassy of your displacement”, recommends the Embassy of Brazil. in Kiev.
