And he called for a peace agreement. “The Brazilian government reiterates its call for a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire, which includes the release of all hostages and the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.”
The note also defends Brazil’s commitment to a solution that makes the existence of two States viable, “an independent and viable Palestinian State, living side by side with Israel, in peace and security, within the 1967 borders, which includes the Strip of Gaza and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” the statement said.
The intensification of bombings by the Israel Defense Forces throughout the Gaza Strip since the early hours of Thursday (2) led the commissioner of the UN Assistance Agency for Palestinian Refugees (Unrwa), Philippe Lazzarini, to state on social media that “no humanitarian zone is safe”. The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (Ocha), in northern Gaza, warned that Palestinians’ livelihoods are being decimated.
According to the United Nations agency, there are more than 14 thousand patients on the waiting list in need of medical evacuation abroad who are prevented from access by the Israeli authorities.
