After victories by Matheus Pucinelli and Thiago Monteiro last Friday (3rd) in the singles, the Brazilian team kept the path of triumphs this Saturday with Felipe Meligeni and Rafael Matos beating Jie Cui and Ze Zhang by 2 sets to 0 (6/2 and 6/3) in 1h19min of departure.

“It was a very nervous game, a lot on my part at the beginning. Even so, we managed to put on some intensity and play our game without being too worried about what was happening outside. I’m very happy and I would like to thank the people who came to cheer for us and who watched it on TV. Playing in Brazil is a different and very good feeling”, said Meligeni.

After securing the classification with a score of 3 to 0, Gustavo Heide still entered the court to measure forces with Rigele Te, who played only three games and withdrew from the confrontation, which made Brazil close the dispute in 4 to 0.

Now Brazil returns to the courts in September to seek a place for next year’s Davis Cup Qualifiers. The Brazilian team will meet its next opponent next Thursday (9), when the ITF (International Tennis Federation) will draw the matches.
