The first day of the Brazil Swimming Trophy began this Monday (4th) at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park, in Rio de Janeiro, with breaking records and obtaining indices for the World Championships in Budapest (Hungary).

One of the athletes to shine in the competition was Jhennifer Conceição, who, with a time of 1min07s12, won the 100 meters breaststroke, breaking the Brazilian record and guaranteeing her place in the Worlds. The podium was completed by Ana Carolina Vieira (1min08s30) and Pamela Alencar (1min09s23).
“2020 was a very difficult year. After being out of the Olympics, I didn’t have much time to get my head straight. I just dedicated myself to the maximum and the reward came today. Very happy with my result and looking forward to this Worlds”, declared Jhennifer.
Another record-breaking event was the 400 meters freestyle, which was won by Guilherme Costa in 3min47s42. Thus, he set the new record of the event and secured himself in Budapest, where he will be accompanied in the event by the Olympic medalist in the 200 meters freestyle Fernando Scheffer (3:48.13).
“It’s the test I trained the most to get here and swim well. It’s not my best brand, but it was good given the health issues I had last year. Good to have this possibility to swim in Budapest”, stated Guiherme.
Two other athletes stamped their passports for the Budapest World Cup. Stephan Steverink secured himself in the 400-metre medley and Viviane Jungblut in the 400-metre freestyle.
