Brazil resumes chicken meat exports to Malaysia

Malaysia announced, this Friday (24), the resumption of imports of Brazilian chicken meat, which had been suspended since May due to sanitary measures related to avian influenza. Brazil resumes chicken meat exports to Malaysia

The announcement was made at a meeting between the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, Mohamad Sabu.

The Ministry of Agriculture also announced the authorization of imports by Malaysia of new Brazilian products: extractive and farmed fish, sesame, melon and apple, in addition to formalizing the opening of the market for powdered eggs.

The meeting is part of the mission led by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, which carries out official visits to Southeast Asia.

In 2024, bilateral trade between Brazil and Malaysia reached US$487.2 million, with US$346.4 million in Brazilian exports and US$140.9 million in imports.
