Mauro Vieira, Foreign Minister of Brazil, took advantage of the Brics dinner to request safe passage for the six asylum seekers at the Argentine embassy in Caracas during an informal conversation with the Venezuelan vice president, Delcy Rodríguez.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira, expressed his concern about the situation of political prisoners in Venezuela during a conversation with the Venezuelan Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, as reported CNN Brazil.
During an informal meeting on the night of Wednesday, October 23, at the dinner organized by the Russian government, which presides over the Brics bloc this year, Vieira underlined Brazil’s concern for the opponents detained in Venezuela, especially after the presidential elections of the 28th. July, in which Nicolás Maduro was declared the winner.

Vieira also reinforced the request for the Venezuelan government to grant safe passage so that the six opponents of the regime who are detained in the Argentine embassy in Caracas can leave the country safely.
Since the end of July, Brazil has guarded the diplomatic representation of Argentina, after the expulsion of diplomats from Javier Milei’s government for not recognizing Maduro’s victory in the presidential elections.

For her part, Delcy Rodríguez expressed Venezuela’s intention to join the Brics as a dialogue partner, a category that would allow the country to get closer to the group. Although the list of possible new members has already been closed, Venezuela hopes to continue pushing to join in the future.
