Four days from the entry into force of the 50% rate for Brazilian products in the United States, the Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, said that Brazil is talking “with reservations” with the US government. He reaffirmed that the contingency plan is under preparation, but said the focus this week is in commercial negotiations.
“We are permanently in the dialogue and I want to tell you that we are dialoguing at this time through the institutional and reserve channels,” Alckmin said in an interview after the release of the Breed Export program.
The vice president did not give details about conversations with the United States or the contingency plan in elaboration to help the sectors affected by taxation.
“The contingency plan is being prepared, quite complete, well done,” said the vice president.
Last week, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said the Relief plan would be taken to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva this week. Among Study measures are lines of credit for the exporting sectors.
CREATE EXPORT PROGRAM
Regarding the believer export, whose bill and regulation decree were signed on Monday (28) by President Lula, Alckmin said that the program will boost the growth of micro and small companies that sell abroad. According to him, the project is aligned with government values, such as the promotion of multilateralism.
“The project comes in good time, reaffirming values that Brazil defends, as multilateralism,” said Alckmin, during the sanction ceremony of the decree.
By the program, from August 1, the same date of entry into force of the 50% rate for Brazilian products imported by the United States, the Micro and Small Enterprises will be able to receive the equivalent of 3% of their external sales revenues.
Reimbursement may occur directly or by compensation for federal taxes (more paid taxes paid in previous stages of the production chain).
