Brazil staged the best Gymnastics World Cup in its history, after winning two bronze medals last Sunday in Liverpool (England), with Rebeca Andrade on the floor and Arthur Nory on the fixed bar. In addition, the Brazilian team secured gold with the Flamengo athlete in the all-around.

Before the campaign in Liverpool, with three medals, the best performances in a competition of this category were achieved in 2007 in Stuttgart (Germany), with a gold by Diego Hypolito on the floor and a bronze by Jade Barbosa in the all-around, in 2014 in Nanning (China), with silver by Arthur Zanetti on the rings and a bronze by Diego on the floor, and in 2021 in Kitakyushu (Japan), with Rebeca securing a gold in the jump and a silver in the asymmetry.
With the two medals won in England, Rebeca became the first gymnast in Brazil to get medals in three different apparatus in an edition of the World Cup. Now just one podium is missing from the beam, a device in which she finished in eighth place after suffering a fall. “An hour will come [a medalha na trave]. I’m very happy with what I did,” said the 23-year-old gymnast.
“This is the World Cup with the best results for Brazil. For the first time we got 12 finals and, in addition, three medals. Until then, our best result was two medals. In this edition, we had for the first time a Brazilian woman winning a gold medal in the all-around. But much more important is the construction of Brazilian gymnastics, based on a lot of respect, on a lot of prosperity, of people who are looking for an increasingly stronger group. This leads to a sporting result”, declared the general coordinator of the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation, Henrique Motta.
