According to Embratur, the result of October indicates a trend of growth in the numbers, since, in August and September, the value was also superior to US$ 400 million. Taking into account all of 2022, October was the fifth month that overseas visitor spending exceeded $400 million. In all of 2021, no month reached this mark.
In 2019, the last year before the pandemic, spending by foreign tourists in Brazil totaled US$5.9 billion. The historical record remains 2014, the year of the soccer World Cup in the country, with US$ 6.84 billion.
According to an estimate made by Embratur’s Competitive and Market Intelligence Management, more than 800,000 foreign visitors should come to the country between December 2022 and March 2023.
