Brazil has surpassed the mark of 93% of Brazilians over 12 years old vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine against covid-19. With a single dose or two doses of the vaccine schedule, 87% of Brazilians are covered, considering the same target audience. So far, 380 million doses of vaccine have been administered to this population. The information is from the Ministry of Health.
The immunization booster was taken by 50.6 million people. Of this total, 48.5 million are booster doses and 2 million additional doses. In total, of the more than 660 million doses of vaccines acquired, the Federal Government has already distributed more than 430 million to the federative units. According to the government, the vaccination of the public between 5 and 11 years old also continues to advance. Of the 20.4 million children, more than 5 million took their first dose.
The Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, spoke to journalists this morning (21) and reiterated the importance of completing the vaccination schedule against covid-19 and taking the third dose. “The vaccination campaign is still going strong and I take the opportunity to reiterate what I have been saying every day: the need to move forward with the booster dose. This is important for the protection of our population, especially for the elderly, who took both doses at the beginning of the campaign. This reinforcement is essential for us to have greater protection against the Ômicron variant”, said Queiroga.
