The federal government published, in the Official Gazette of the Union this Monday (12), two laws that formalize the donation of four aircraft and Brazilian military equipment to Paraguay and Uruguay.
In addition to two model 412 Classic helicopters, from the manufacturer Bell Aircraft Corporation, of the Federal Police (PF), Brazil will donate to Paraguay six Self-Propelled Howitzer Armored Combat Vehicles (Bccoap), model M108, as well as a floating aluminum walkway – a type of bridge that can be mounted over rivers and other water courses -, belonging to the Army.
The National Navy of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay will receive two Bell Jet Ranger III (IH-6B) helicopters transferred from the Brazilian Navy.
Signed by the President of the Republic Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the Minister of Defense, José Múcio Monteiro Filho, the two laws sanctioned, Law 15,341 and Law 15,338originated in two Bills (PLs) that the Executive Branch sent to Congress between 2022 and 2023, with the justification that the initiative seeks to strengthen diplomatic relations and military cooperation between Brazil and the two neighboring countries.
