The Brazilian government issued a note on Monday (11) condemning the death of six television journalists al Jazeera during an Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip on Sunday (10). The journalists were in a tent near the Al-Shifa Hospital in the city of Gaza and were victims of an air strike. 
“The new act of blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the exercise of press freedom by Israeli forces raises to more than 240 the number of journalists killed in Gaza since the beginning of the conflict. The figure is eloquent as to successive violations committed in the period against press professionals,” says the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the message, the Brazilian government “urges the Israeli government to assure journalists the right to safely and safely perform their work in Gaza, as well as to raise restrictions in force at the entry of international press professionals into the territory.”
Attack
One of the dead journalists was 28-year-old Al-Sharif. Israel claims that he was a terrorist who was passing a reporter. This thesis had already been denied by the United Nations, according to the RTP news agency.
The Israeli government does not allow the entry of international media in Gaza.
The Israeli forces stated in a statement that Al Sharif was the leader of a Hamas cell and “responsible for promoting missile attacks against Israeli civilians and troops of Israel’s defense forces (IDF)”, citing information from the secret services and documents found in Gaza as proof.
In October 2024, Israel’s defense forces appointed Al Sharif as one of the six Gaza journalists claiming to be members of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad Palestinian, citing documents that, according to Tel Aviv, showed lists of people who completed training courses.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that he would launch a new offensive to dismantle Hamas strongholds in Gaza, where an increasingly aggravating hunger crisis after 22 months of war.
Al Jazeera stated that the attack was a “desperate attempt to silence voices in anticipation of Gaza’s occupation.” Among the other dead journalists were Mohammed Qreiqeh, Ibrahim Zaher and Mohammed Noufal.
