After three straight defeats, the Brazilian men’s volleyball team beat Serbia this Thursday (23rd) and is still steadfastly seeking to qualify in the Nations League. The Brazilians beat the Serbs by 3 sets to 0 (partial 25/18, 26/24 and 25/17) in the second stage of the competition in Sofia (Bulgaria). The team led by coach Renan Dal Zotto defends the title, won for the first time in history last year.

With the triumph this Thursday (24), Brazil now occupies seventh place, with nine points (three wins and three defeats). The national team lost the last three games to the United States, China and Poland. In the debut of the first round, in Brasília), the team overcame Autrália, and in the following game they beat Slovenia. Only the top eight in the first phase (three rounds) will fight for the Nations League title. The third and final round will be in Osaka (Japan) starting in July.
The pointer Lucarelli was left on the court in this morning’s clash when he scored 14 points, as well as the opposite Alan (13) and the pointer Leal (11). The team also had Bruninho, Lucão, Flávio, Lucarelli and Thalles.
The next duel will be against Iran at 10:30 am (Brasília time) this Friday (25). The last match of the second stage will be against hosts Bulgaria, at 2 pm on Sunday (26).
