In a very exciting match in Lódz, Poland, the Brazilian Women’s Volleyball team defeated Japan by 3 sets to 2 (23-25, 25-21, 25-18, 19-25, 15-8) this Saturday (26) and secured a place in the League Final. The opponent in search of the unprecedented title will be Italy, which defeated Poland 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-14), also this Saturday. The final, this Sunday, starts at 15h of Brasilia.
The team led by Zé Roberto Guimarães had difficulties in the first partial, overcome by the Japanese 25-23. However, little by little, Brazil was more comfortable on the court and closed the following two sets without further threats (25 to 21 and 25 to 18).
With the back against the wall, Japan increased its intensity in the fourth set to avoid elimination and made the last five points consecutively to close 25 to 19.
In the decisive Tie-Break, Brazil was opening advantage and the Japanese succumbed to the pressure. In an attack by Julia Bergmann, the Brazilian team closed 15-8. Bergmann, with 24 points, was the second highest scorer in Brazil, just a point behind Gabi, which recorded 25.
The victory represented a rematch to Brazil, which was defeated exactly by Japan in the semifinal of the competition last year. Now, the national team face the current champion of the League of Nations and the Olympic Games and that reaches the decision with an unbeaten campaign. Italy has not lost 28 matches. Brazil tries its first title of the League of Nations. It will be the fourth time that the Brazilian female team reaches the decision, after the vices in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
