The Brazilian team defeated Ecuador 1-0, late on Friday night (6) at the Couto Pereira stadium, in Curitiba, in the 7th round of the Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The triumph, in the match broadcast by National Radiol, was guaranteed thanks to a goal by Rodrygo.
In the 29th minute of the first half, the Real Madrid (Spain) forward dribbled past several opponents and finished from distance to seal the game. “We are in a moment of rebuilding the team. Today, it was important for us to win, no matter how it happened. At no point did we have any difficulties in the match and we were not attacked. They had possession of the ball, but did not create any chances. I think it is all a matter of time,” declared coach Dorival Júnior in a press conference.
With this result, Brazil returned to triumph in the tournament after a hiatus of almost a year. The last green and yellow victory in the Qualifiers had been on September 12, 2023, by 1-0 against the Peruvian team in Lima. With three more points, the team jumped to fourth place in the standings with 10 points. The top of the table is occupied by Argentina, with 18 points.
Brazil’s next match in the World Cup Qualifiers will be next Tuesday (10), when they face Paraguay at the Defensores Del Chaco Stadium, in Asunción.
