The Brazilian national team’s centre forward and star of the Flamengo from Rio de Janeiro Peter seriously injured his left knee on Wednesday during a training session with the Seleção, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced. “After a clinical examination and an MRI, it was confirmed that the player had torn the anterior cruciate ligament,” the CBF wrote in a statement.
This type of injury usually results in a disability of more than six months. Pedro had already suffered the same injury, but in his right knee, in 2018 while he was with Fluminense.
Pedro, 27, was injured while training with the Brazilian national team in Curitiba (south) before facing Ecuador on Friday and Paraguay on Tuesday in the 2026 World Cup qualifying phase.
