Brazil and Venezuela will decide on Sunday (21) the title of the second edition of the South American U-17 Championship of women’s volleyball, from 19:30 (Brasília time), in Lima, the capital of Peru.
The Brazilian vacancy for the final was won on Saturday (20), with a 3-0 win over Peruvian hostesses (25×23, 26×24, 25×15). Captain Vic Martini was the highest scorer of the confrontation in the semifinal, with 19 hits.
Venezuela, the only team that won Brazil in the tournament so far, reached the final passing through Chile, 3-1 (23×25, 25×19, 25×20, 25×18).
Even before the decision, Brazil has already won one of the goals in the competition: the place for the 2026 World Cup, which will be played in Chile. The other goal is to achieve the unprecedented title. This is the second edition of the competition, which debuted in 2023.
The Brazilian team is led by coach Marcelo Freitas, Dentinho, who took over the post at the beginning of the season. The selection is formed by the following athletes: opposite Isadora Bustamante and Victoria Gama; the surveys Catarina Harzbecker and Laura Dias; Ana Clara de Paula, Meilani Akana, Pietra Bastos and Vic Martini; the centrals Duda Lemos, Gaby Ferreira, Isadora Costa and Mikaela Santos; and Liberos Carolina Bitencourt and Nathalia Krugher.
