The alleged perpetrator of the murder of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) official, Derwin José Linares (22), was killed in a confrontation in the state of Carabobo.
The event occurred in the La Arenera sector, Independencia parish of the Libertador municipality, as a result of intense intelligence work by the PNB.
The neutralized criminal was identified as Brayan Núñez, alias “Brayitan”, 28 years old.
According to the police report, Núñez was located by a PNB commission. When cornered, the subject fired a 38 caliber revolver at the agents, unleashing an exchange of gunfire.
Núñez was seriously injured and was taken to the Campo Carabobo outpatient clinic, where he died shortly after admission.
Key police sources confirmed that the Tauro brand revolver, recovered at the scene of the confrontation, is under investigation to determine if it was the weapon used to murder PNB Derwin José Linares.
The murder of the official occurred on the night of Thursday, October 16, on Santa Teresa Street in the 19 de Abril neighborhood, Candelaria parish, south of Valencia.
The authorities maintain active search efforts to find the whereabouts of the second person involved in the official’s crime.
On Thursday night, the PNB officer was in the aforementioned sector talking with a girl he met through the social network Facebook, when around 9 pm the subjects arrived and shot him before fleeing on the victim’s motorcycle.
