“It was not easy because there was a semester that I lost but I got through it and my dream is to be a great engineer and a great person,” Sebastián Álvarez said at the graduation ceremony at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana de Medellín when he received his diploma. that classifies him as a Systems Engineer.
The 27-year-old was born with cerebral palsy as a result of a bacterial infection suffered by his mother at three months of pregnancy, Claudia Álvarez, a woman allergic to penicillin. She was given this intravenous antibiotic while she was waiting for the surgery.

As a result of this procedural error, Sebastián was born with this disorder that causes problems with movement, balance and posture.
However, this was not an impediment for the young paisa to fulfill his dream of being a professional. Nor for his mother who was even suggested to have an abortion but she flatly rejected this option.
When Sebastian was growing up, his mother began hard work to improve her son’s quality of life. She taught him everything he needed: to walk and talk.

In turn, they offered to take him to “how much therapy” and so he did: “It was not an easy process,” he said.
The blessings for Sebastián have come with this achievement in his personal life. The young man already works with a multinational in the position of “control and quality analyst”.
Now, he advises all university students not to give up and keep fighting: “Go for your dreams like I did, have no limits, have positivism,” was his message to youth.
