Braithwaite, new positive for Covid-19 in Barcelona

Barcelona’s Danish striker Martin Braithwaite has tested positive for covid-19, the Blaugrana club announced in a statement on Friday, and will miss Sunday’s league match against Mallorca.

Barcelona already announced on Thursday the positive of another first-team footballer, defender Óscar Mingueza, who is also absent for the championship match.

The two absences should not, however, affect coach Xavi Hernández’s plans too much, as neither of the two players is playing an important role in the squad this season.

But the Catalan press fears the appearance of an outbreak in the Barcelona dressing room, after a barbecue between teammates held on Thursday at the training center and in which Braithwaite was present.
