Boyacá lights up Christmas: lighting and plans in 57 municipalities

Boyacá opened its Christmas season with lighting, fairs, concerts and traditions in 57 municipalities of its 13 provinces.

The Christmas agenda in Boyacá It brings together the best of its cultural, religious, gastronomic and tourist manifestations, said the authorities who took advantage of citizens to get to know the lighting that was inaugurated this weekend.

In the 13 provinces of the department of Boyacá it is offered “a robust and varied programming throughout the month of December, which will even extend until the Three Kings Bridge weekend in January 2026”the organizers said.

Christmas lighting in Boyacá

There are 57 municipalities that make up the Christmas route where they were inaugurated Christmas lighting, sporting and cultural events, farmers markets, gastronomic fairs and artistic presentations.

The traditional novenas and festivals “that are part of the Boyacense identity”. The Tourism entities in Boyacá confirmed that during December several scenarios were set up that combine “tradition, colonial architecture, illuminated landscapes and activities for all ages”.

Among the most representative attractions are the municipality of Villa de Leiva with its traditional festival of lightswhich brings together fireworks shows and visits by thousands of people during this time.

There is also the lighting in the Vargas Swamporganized to welcome Christmas. In the Tenza Valley, there are the provinces of Neira and Oriente, where Christmas novenas will be celebrated through “comparsas, cultural events and musical displays.”

In Tunja, capital of Boyacá, they will be offered “concerts, artistic meetings, a variety of nativity scenes and outstanding lighting in its historic center and tourist corridors”.

Another attraction is the Christmas cuisine that includes “fritters, custard, masato, wraps, chicha and other traditional desserts.

The Government of Boyacá and the majority of the Mayors invited the inhabitants and international touriststo participate in all the activities that the municipalities have prepared for this season.
