The head and director of Digimin resigned this weekend due to “pressure” they would have received in the Interior sector. According to La República sources, Colonel PNP(r) Juan Asmat Bucalo and to overall PNP(r) Ricardo Trujillo Cornejo“they ordered them to reduce 70% of the budget of the Search Directorate in charge of the colonel Harvey Colchado”.
The measure ordered by the Government would have a single objective: “to create a parallel search direction so that they can have direct control of the activities carried out by Colonel Colchado’s team.” It was also learned that the group would be made up of the PNP commander, Mario Hidalgo Yen, and the PNP major, Manuel Arellanos Carrión.
Added to the boycott plan against the PNP Special Team that supports prosecutor Barreto is the arrival of 35 non-commissioned officers to the Counterintelligence Division, who would be in charge of collecting information to discredit Colchado.
In this way it came to light that the retired officers maintained differences with the Minister Willy Huertafor these last decisions, which triggered both to step aside.
In the case of Juan Asmat and Ricardo Trujillo, they were appointed on August 21 by the Minister of the Interior with the support of President Castillo; however, what is surprising is that a little over two weeks later, the Government accepted and formalized the resignation.
Hours after the resignations, Minister Willy Huerta met with the Head of State at the Government Palace. According to the record of visits accessed by La República, the meeting between the two took place at 4:48 p.m. until 4:53 p.m.
