Boric sets agenda of priorities of transversal consideration: security, La Araucania, migration and reactivation

Beyond the speech and the paper, the incoming administration of Gabriel Boric knows that in order to achieve minimal progress in what is promised in the government program, it will need a hand from independent sectors and the willingness of the future opposition. This taking for granted that if you do not have your sector and the center left one hundred percent committed to each of the projects to be presented, they will hardly see the light of day.

It is in this context that the priorities set by the President-elect to lay the foundations for what will be the beginning of his term point to issues not only of broad public concern, but also with a high degree of political realism.

This in the understanding that the future opposition comes from a defeat of no less than 12 points of difference in the second presidential round, which implies that they will be forced to have to re-profile themselves before their electorate, marking clear differences with the future administration. , all this with an added concern; the entrance to the hemicycle of the Republican Party, which promises to further stress the actions of Chile Vamos.

It is in this framework that after a long day of work —the first that sits down with the entire new cabinet— the incoming government announced, through the future spokeswoman, Camila Vallejo, the prioritization of issues with which it seeks to begin the discussion. politics on March 11, the day of the change of command.

In this way, the former PC deputy announced that the main focus of the priority agenda would be “security, the Wallmapu situation, migration, education, and productive development.”

With these issues on the table, at least at the signal level, the future head of state took charge, not only of the public’s concern about high-impact issues, but also of the agenda that the parliamentary right had set as negotiation factor to present themselves as a future opposition that is less “tough” than the one they would have had to live with.

From Chile Vamos they had already warned him; “The government’s priorities define the opposition.”
