Border security required RD$1,287.2 MM in patrols

The work to defend national sovereignty, in matters of land, air and maritime space security, cost the Dominican Republic 1,287.2 million pesos during 2022, an investment that was carried out through 80,082 patrols carried out in the border zone.

The security operations were in charge of the Armed Forces, made up of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Dominican Republic. The Specialized Corps also participated in Border Security Terrestrial (Cesfront).

Regarding the Dominican Republic Navy (ARD), as the nation’s Naval Force, it developed a total of 14,276 patrol operations along the maritime borders, at a cost of 175,398,513.92 pesos; it also carried out 46,684 land operations, in the different naval zones, with an investment of 563,571,132.17 pesos.

“It allowed to increase the operational response capabilities of the ARD, to address and face the risks and threats at maritime borders, achieving greater control, security and defense of our coasts, ports, marinas, internal waters and territorial waters” highlights the summary of activities.

Meanwhile, the Dominican Republic Air Force carried out 102 air patrols, in which 38,962,862.82 pesos were spent, according to the reports, which they say contributed to exercising greater control in the security and defense of the country’s airspace.

Similarly, the Specialized Corps in Border Security Land (Cesfront), carried out 9,912 patrols in the Dajabón, Montecristi, Independencia, Pedernales and Elías Piña provinces, with an investment of 381,844,241.04 pesos.
