MIAMI, United States. — The United States Border Patrol (CBP) detained 26 Cuban migrants who arrived by sea at Key Biscayne this morning.

Chief Patrol Agent Walter N. Slosar reported in social networks that the group of migrants was made up of 24 men and two women.

“26 Cuban immigrants, 24 adult men and two adult women, were detained after arriving in a rustic boat,” the officer said on his Twitter account.

This Wednesday, 15 Cuban rafters were taken into Border Patrol custody after making landfall in two rustic boats in the Dry Tortugas National Park.

According to Walter N. Slosar himself, the migrants were stranded on uninhabited islands and were rescued by the Coast Guard.

It also transpired this Wednesday finding of the bodies of two Cuban rafters that were found in the vicinity of Boca Chica.

The bodies were found by deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, along with a Florida State Fish and Wildlife Discussion Commission.

Last Monday, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) suspended the search for several migrants who were shipwrecked in the vicinity of Key West during Hurricane Ian’s passage through the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Of the around 27 Cuban rafters who embarked on this illegal maritime incursion, nine survived and seven bodies have been found dead.
